A few days following the Tel Aviv operation, Israel has as usual lost its senses, avenging its own security lapses by using fascist practices against the Palestinians, said the UAE’s Al Khaleej.
“This is not the first time in which Israel resorted to collective punishment against the Palestinian people, who have been living under such practices ever since their lands were occupied. The displacement of people from their land, arbitrary killings, sieges, demolishing Palestinian homes and seizing their lands, all those are war crimes that Israel has perpetrated against the Palestinian people. Moreover, what about Gaza, which is currently under a full land, air and sea siege for more than five years? The current reality and past experiences have shown us that as Israel’s enmity and tyranny grows, the Palestinian people become even stronger and more resilient.”
The policy of collective punishment that is practiced by Israel against the Palestinians is the latest flagrant meddling with international legitimacy and violation of international human rights laws, said Qatar’s Al Sharq.
“These hostile attacks that can be classified as war crimes, as per international laws, cannot continue any further. The United Nations can no longer remain silent in the face of ongoing violations. Prince Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussain, United Nation’s High Commissioner for Human Rights, described the practices as a collective punishment that is prohibited by international law. Israel must be held accountable and questioned over its continued violations of international human right laws and the rights of the Palestinians. It is necessary for the UN to be effective and brave, and to shun its policy of timidly condemning Israel, for it must remember that the Palestinians will not remain silent over the crimes perpetrated against them.”
After last Saturday night’s attack in Orlando, the Jordan Times called it a horrible act of terror that the Muslim community in the US condemned in the strongest terms, along with the governments of many Muslim countries around the world, including Jordan. “It was an attack against unarmed civilians who were shot indiscriminately by someone reportedly sympathising with the Daesh [the self-proclaimed Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant] terrorist group, who thought it was his duty to punish the gay community represented by those present at the bar. To start with, Daesh is the number one enemy of Muslims and of Islam. It has killed tens of thousands of innocent Muslims in Iraq, Syria and elsewhere and it has terrorised, enslaved and maimed many others. Muslims have been the group’s top target and victims, hence the effort by Muslim countries to be active members of the 60-state global coalition attempting to defeat it.”
Egypt was swift in condemning the Orlando attack and expressing its condolences to the US administration and people. Egypt’s Al Ahram newspaper said: “Egypt’s stand stresses the importance of comprehensively combatting terrorism.”
