With tearful eyes, but also with pride-filled hearts and heads held high, we mourn 45 martyrs today. We salute the 45 heroes who offered the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country.

They died holding the UAE flag high. They paid with their precious lives the price of defending the right of the oppressed Yemeni people to live free of tyranny and intimidation.

The 45 martyrs we mourn today will be immortalised in history, along with those who had martyred before them, as the embodiment of the UAE’s determination to stand by the people of Yemen. These soldiers have shown an unrivalled courage and made their families and country proud.

The martyrdom of these heroes will not deter the UAE from continuing to walk on the right side of history. It will not stop us from acting as we should in response to the call of our Arab brethren. The UAE shall not fail those who called for help.

The tyranny of Al Houthi militias and their allies, forces loyal to deposed President Ali Abdullah Saleh, must be confronted. Their aggression shall not stand.

The essential role played by the UAE, as part of the Arab coalition in Yemen, reflects the country’s deep-rooted belief in the Arab solidarity to preserve our region and shield it against existential threats and foreign interference.

Our forces will continue to perform their duties until peace and stability prevail in Yemen. The martyrdom of our soldiers is a clear message to those who incite sedition and fuel sectarian hatred in the region that the UAE will continue to stand by Yemen and help its people fulfil their national aspirations and rebuild their war-ravaged country.
