The excavations around Al Haram Al Sharif and the confiscation of land around it is part of a much larger plan, said Palestine’s Al Quds. “Those who carry out the incursions in Al Haram Al Sharif, and those who support them, see the cowardly response from Arabs and Muslims to these practices. This makes them even more arrogant and aggressive in achieving their goals in an official capacity. They have made these incursions now seem normal. For any Palestinian, Arab or Muslim who felt it was sufficient to just denounce Israel and to urge it not to divide [occupied] Jerusalem and not to spark a holy war, it is now time to shift from discussions to action ... and to come out of the illusion that Israel will step back from its actions.”

The Israeli Knesset’s intention to discuss a draft law next month on partitioning the Al Haram Al Sharif between Jews and Muslims is a move that must not be overlooked, said Qatar’s Al Raya. “Palestinians Arabs or the international community must not be silent on this issue because Israel does not have any right over Al Haram Al Sharif, regardless of its claims, lies and illusions that Solomon’s temple lies underneath it. Undoubtedly, these crucial changes in the region call for an intifada to support Al Aqsa. If the Palestinian people are to rise in another intifada now, then it will come at a very heavy price, especially after some of western countries, like France, Sweden and the UK, have begun to recognise a Palestinian state. The Arabs have to support the initiatives of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the UN Security Council in order to achieve a noteworthy victory for the Palestinian state.”

The first qibla and third holiest Islamic site is entering a new phase of Judaisation, said Al Bayan. “This new phase is more dangerous than those that preceded it, as it sets up the occupation forces to seize control over Al Aqsa Mosque and later destroy it to build the alleged temple on the site. As usual, the colonists continue to carry out flagrant violations of Palestinian rights, like seizing, through the use of force, two residential buildings in Al Silwan with the aid and support of Israeli government, which says that the buildings are part of the ‘Jewish legacy’.

“The Palestinian leadership has no option but to denounce these acts and complain to the relevant international organisations. Riyad Al Maliki, Palestine’s Foreign Minister, said that Palestine is likely to achieve nine votes at the UN Security Council for a draft resolution that specifies a timeframe for ending the occupation. This move, however, is in dire need of Arab, Islamic and international support ..,” the paper said.

The danger that threatens the region is in the formation of a terrorism, colonialism and occupation infrastructure and its transformation into an incubator for all forms of terrorism, said Oman’s Al Watan. “The continued desecration of Al Haram Al Sharif and banning Muslims from accessing it comes in light of news reports about Arab and western pressure on the Palestinian National Authority to refrain from resorting to the UN Security Council...,” the paper said.
