London:

A woman has been bombarded with death threats after allegedly trapping her cat in a bath for an hour — as a punishment for eating her pizza.

The unnamed woman from Swansea, south Wales, provoked fury by posting a picture on Facebook showing a pet travel basket sitting in a bath of water.

Suggesting her cat was inside it, she wrote: “Have a bath to go with your pizza.”

After receiving dozens of angry messages from animal lovers, she defiantly responded that the cat spent an hour “knee deep” in water. The 22 year old was reported to the RSPCA, which visited her home to check on the animal’s welfare. Within hours of the photograph being uploaded, it had been shared by hundreds of Facebook users around the world.

More than 3,000 people signed an online petition started in the US to have the owner investigated by animal rights authorities.

In response, the woman posted her original photo with the caption: “Can’t believe my cat ate a ₤15 pizza? I’m livid I been looking forward to that all day like!”

She added: “Not being funny but I could of beaten **** out of it with a pizza box. She had an hour knee deep in a bath. THE END.” One angry Facebook user wrote: “It’s a shame you were born, but seeing as you’re here, try not to be a ****.”

Another said: “You can’t be serious? Don’t tell me there is actually a cat in there?”

Officials did not bring charges against the woman. Her cat was not visible in the photo.

An RSPCA spokesman told Mail Online: “We are grateful to the members of the public who brought this matter to our attention and we would like to reassure people that the cat involved in the incident was, thankfully, unharmed? We would strongly advise against reprimanding any animal and the RSPCA believes the best form of training is through positive reinforcement.”
