Islamabad: Pakistani prime minister’s adviser on national security and foreign affairs on Sunday expressed the hope that US President Barack Obama’s visit to South Asia would help reduce tension in the region.

Sartaj Aziz, talking to reporters in Islamabad, said the cherished goal of progress and prosperity in the region cannot be achieved without improving relations between Pakistan and India.

He said peace in the region is in the interests of everyone.

Aziz said US Secretary of State John Kerry was apprised of Pakistan’s reservations on various issues during his recent visit to Islamabad.
