Islamabad: Pakistan’s foreign ministry has told the Supreme Court (SC) that equipment for machine-readable passports will be installed and respective staff will be stationed by November 2015 at all embassies and missions across the world.

In a report, the foreign ministry told the court that the machines will be installed in 16 missions during the period from July 2014 to 2015 while the other machines will be set up in 48 embassies in next financial year.

The report was presented by the Deputy Attorney-General before a three-member bench of the Supreme Court led by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Tassaduq Hussain Jillani on Thursday.

The court ruled that equipment for machine readable passports should be installed at all Pakistani embassies across the world as soon as possible and staff be appointed as well.

A further hearing of the case will take place in June, 2014.
