Karachi: The tortured bodies of five missing people, including that of a woman, were found Wednesday morning, police and rescue workers said.

This takes the death toll to 14 within 24 hours.

Two bodies were found near the Mewah Shah graveyard in western Karachi. Police said they might have been kidnapped.

A third body was found under the Lasbela bridge. Police identified the person as a 25-year-old man.

Another body was recovered from Teen Hatti along the Lyari river bank. The body was identified as that of Sarfaraz, a laboratory assistant and the resident of Pakistan Quarters.

The fifth body, of a bullet-ridden woman, was found in Naseerabad, in the central district.

The attacks follow Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit to Karachi two days ago, to inquire about Hamid Mir’s health. Mir, a prominent journalist, was attacked on Saturday.

Sharif had later chaired a meeting to review the law and order situation in Karachi.
