Thiruvananthapuram: A businessman in Kerala who had earlier courted controversy by allowing his 7-year-old son to drive a Ferrari and post the video on YouTube has courted fresh trouble by allegedly assaulting a guard at his apartment complex.

He also hit the guard with his Hummer in a fit of rage, in the early hours of Thursday. The 50-year-old guard, Chandrabose has been admitted to hospital after other security guards at the complex informed police.

The businessman, Mohammad Nisham, 38, heads the Kings Group with interests in multiple sectors and has a collection of luxury cars including Ferrari, Bentley, Jaguar, Rolls-Royce and the Hummer that he allegedly used to hit the guard.

Police officials were quoted as saying that Nisham flew into a rage because the security guard was slow to open the gate.

The incident happened at a posh gated residential complex in Thrissur. Nisham, who has had several brushes with the law in the past, is now likely to be charged under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy who visited the guard at a hospital in Thrissur, said stringent action would be taken against the accused and that such incidents “will not be tolerated”. He said the state government would foot the medical expenses of the guard.
