Abu Dhabi: Over 100,000 workers will be provided legal education this year by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, said officials.

The workers will be offered lessons about their rights and privileges under the Year of Zayed 2018 initiative.

Recently, the department gave training to 400 workers of different nationalities in Abu Dhabi.

Ahmad Al Marzouqi, director of Internal Operations and Support Sector of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, said the programme tells workers about the importance of the One Day Court, which provides legal assistance to them such as counselling and exemption from judicial fees.

He pointed out that the achievement of these objectives and initiatives requires effective communication with the workers to educate them about the rights guaranteed by the UAE, in addition to acquainting them with the facilities and services provided by the department.

The department has formed a committee specialised in spreading legal awareness among workers.

The educational lectures are delivered in Arabic, English and Urdu, and the content they impart about rights in the UAE are according to the Labour Law.
