Ras Al Khaimah: A woman told a court on Monday that her husband watched on as she was raped by his friends after a night of drinking.
The Filipina mother-of-one in her 20s said she had earlier filed a case against her 28-year-old Syrian husband as she could not tolerate his abusive behaviour anymore but withdrew it for the sake of her marriage and young son.
The three-judge bench at Ras Al Khaimah Criminal Court comprised Presiding Judge Hassan Al Bu Rogha and Judges Hamad Abdul Karim and Hani Bassam.
Court records said the woman’s husband and his friends had been drinking alcohol at the couple’s Ras Al Khaimah home. Later, the Syrian asked his wife to have sex with him in their bedroom. She refused as her son was asleep in their bed and told him to wait. The husband is then said to have given his friends the green light to rape his wife in their living room.
The woman’s sister filed a complaint with police about the incident, which took place earlier this year. She said it was not the first time such an incident had happened.
