Dubai: Beware of rough seas in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman as well as blowing dust in the desert, weathermen warned on Monday.

Moderate winds are kicking up dust in exposed areas while low clouds associated with rain formed over the eastern part of the UAE.

A weather bulletin of the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) includes a warning against fresh southerly to southeasterly wind and rough sea over Arabian gulf and Oman sea on Monday.

Southerly to south-easterly winds blew at speeds avering 32.4 kph on Monday afternoon, reaching 36km/h at times especially northwards and over the sea and causing dusty conditions at times in Dubai and other exposed internal areas.

The mercury hit 45 degrees C in Dubai by mid-afternoon on Monday as humidity was down to 20 per cent.

The lowest temperature recorded over the country on Monday morning was 23.3°C in Jabal Mebreh at 3am.

The skies were partly cloudy the eastern part of the country such as Fujairah had clouds that became convective.

Convective clouds are those associated with rainfall caused by convection or the unequal heating of the earth’s surface.
