The UAE's weathermen are urging residents with respiratory conditions to take precautions and motorists to drive carefully as strong northwesterly winds will cause dusty conditions from Saturday until Monday.

"The National Centre of Meteorology asks all patients with allergies, asthma, and all road users and sea-vessels, to take all appropriate precautions due to the country's exposure to strong Northwesterly wind, reducing the horizontal visibility to 1,000 to 2,000 metres over different regions," the weather alert from NCM read.

Strong northwesterly winds may kick up dust in exposed areas and dust particles may be left suspended in the air that could trigger allergies for people with breathing conditions who are outdoors.

The strong winds will also cause rough to very rough seas. The Arabian Gulf may have offshore wave height of 7ft to 9ft, reaching up to 12ft, while the Oman Sea will have wave heights offshore of between 5ft to 7ft.

The weather alert was issued on Saturday and will run from 7pm Saturday until 2pm Monday.
