Dubai: Forecasters are expecting rain and thunderstorms over the next four days in most parts of the country, specifically in the northeastern and eastern parts, due to unstable weather prevailing over the UAE.

“Unstable weather will prevail over the country over the next four days, leading to different intensities of rain over most of UAE,” according to the weather alert from the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS).

The country will be affected by the extension of a low pressure from the southwestern part of the UAE as cooler air temperature comes at the upper air layer, causing the weather to be unstable.

“This instability in weather conditions will remain over the country for four days. The peak activity of this instability will be on Tuesday and Wednesday, concentrating on the northeastern and eastern region. But it doesn’t mean that the western part will not receive rain,” a forecaster from NCMS told Gulf News.

Unstable weather conditions make it difficult to predict which areas or emirates will specifically get rain. But the country is totally exposed to cloud accumulations and rainfall with different intensities, the forecaster said.

The accumulated rainfall after four days will still be highest in the northeastern and eastern parts.

According to Accuweather.com, Fujairah on Sunday may receive a morning shower or thunderstorm or may otherwise be cloudy. Monday may bring scattered showers in the morning and sunshine in between. Thunderstorms in scattered parts are expected on Tuesday while the emirate may witness heavy rains and thunderstorm on Wednesday.

Ras Al Khaimah may start getting its share of the showers on Monday, however, only light rain is expected. By Tuesday, a thunderstorm is forecast in scattered parts.

At the peak of the low pressure on Tuesday, Dubai is also expected to get some sun, then turning cloudy with a shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon. An evening thunderstorm is also expected. By Wednesday, it may still be cloudy in Dubai with chances of rainfall or thunderstorms while plenty of clouds with widely separated thunderstorms are forecast at night.

Abu Dhabi on Wednesday may be mostly cloudy with a shower or thunderstorm in scattered parts.

The temperature will remain the same with the maximum being in the middle of 30s Centigrade. The mercury, however, will gradually drop on Monday by 2C to 3C. Tuesday will also bring about a further drop in temperature.

The Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea will be rough in general on Sunday with 5ft to 9ft waves expected offshore in the Arabian Gulf and 5ft to 8ft waves in Oman Sea.
