Dubai: The UAE can expect a hot and cloudy weekend, with dust in some areas and a chance of rain in areas of the southern and eastern regions.
After a sweltering and at times windy Wednesday, “hot to very hot” weather will continue over the next three days, according to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS).
Fresh, and at times, scorching winds would cause rising sand and dust, “especially in the mornings”, a forecaster at the centre told Gulf News.
The forecaster warned that the dust could lower visibility to less than 1 kilometre in some areas inland.
From Thursday afternoon, forecasters predict a chance of convective cloud formation in the UAE’s eastern and southern regions, which could bring rain to those areas. The cloudy weather will likely continue into the evenings and into Saturday, the forecaster added.
On Thursday and Friday, the Arabian Gulf will be moderate, but the Sea of Oman will be rough on both days.
Over the same time, relative humidity will increase during the night and morning over some coastal and inland areas.
On Thursday, Abu Dhabi is expected to see cloudy skies and highs of 46 degree Celsius. Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman will also see clouds and highs of 44C.
The Northern Emirates would see similar temperatures, except Fujairah, which had a predicted high of 36C — a full ten degrees cooler.
Friday is predicted to be cloudy across the UAE, while temperatures in Abu Dhabi are expected to rise to 47C.
Dubai and Sharjah are forecast to have highs of 45C.
The lowest temperature recorded in the country on Wednesday was 25.3C on Jebel Jais mountain in Ras Al Khaimah at 7.45am.
