Dubai: Residents will once again get to enjoy staying outdoors for a longer period by November as the mercury will drop further.

Geographically, winter starts in the UAE on the 21st of December. But the signs of winter can already be witnessed before the middle of November, said a forecaster from the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology.

“Based on historical data, the temperature starts to become temperate by November with a maximum decrease in temperature of between four and six degrees Celsius compared to the previous month. This is due to the apparent movement of the sun toward the south, decreasing daytime and solar radiation and increasing nighttime,” the forecaster told Gulf News.

“The Siberian high pressure will start to affect the country during this period of fall and winter due to the cooler north-westerly wind moving over the Arabian Sea that increases the chances of mist or fog,” he added.

Towards the end of October and as November approaches, the amount of low and medium clouds associated with rain will also increase, especially in the north-eastern and eastern part of the country.

On Wednesday, for example, moderate showers hit Sham in the northern part of Ras Al Khaimah while Falaj Al Moalla in Umm Al Quwain and to the north of Al Dhaid in Sharjah received light rain.

On Thursday, the average temperatures across the country will be between 24 degrees Celcius and 33 degrees Celcius. The lowest recorded temperature on Wednesday was 16.4 degrees Celcius in Jebel Jais at 4.45am.
