Dubai: Heavy clouds loomed over the country on Sunday morning, bringing with it a further downpour and lightning storm.

Weather forecasters have warned of strong winds and rainfall to affect various parts of the country, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai and the northern emirates.

From Saturday night and into the early hours of Sunday morning, residents experienced strong rainfall in the northern coastal and interior areas.

Forecasters from the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) explained that the unstable weather would continue throughout Sunday and into Monday morning.

Satellite images provided by the NCMS shows a blanket of cloud spread across the UAE, Qatar and parts of Saudi Arabia.

“Clouds will increase over most areas, and the wind will be moderate to strong at times. Different intensities of rain, accompanies with thunder, will continue until Monday along all of the coastal areas,” said the NCMS.

Weather forecasters expect a dip in temperature over the next two days, going as low as 15 degrees Celsius and 18 degrees Celsius in the mountain and coastal areas respectively, with a high level of humidity ranging from 80 to 90 per cent.
