Dubai: If you’re planning to hit the beach this weekend, take extra caution.

Forecasters at the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) are warning beachgoers to extra precaution at sea, due to high waves caused by strong northwesterly winds in the Arabian Gulf.

“The relative humidity is likely to increase during night and tomorrow early morning over some coastal areas, and fog/mist may form especially over the northern coasts,” said the NCMS in its daily weather forecast on Wednesday.

Temperatures are expected to pick up slightly on Thursday and gradually increase over the weekend, accompanied with mild to strong gusts of wind is also expected, which will blow dust and sand over exposed areas with speeds of up to 35km/h.

Maximum temperatures will reach 39 degrees Celsius in coastal areas and up to 42 degrees Celsius in mountain areas, with a level of humidity as high as 95 per cent and 65 per cent respectively.

The weather will remain constant until Friday morning as the level of humidity slowly rises, creating clouds over scattered parts of the UAE.
