Dubai: Rain brought temporary relief from the scorching heat in the eastern region of the country on Thursday afternoon.

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) on Thursday said moderate rain was recorded over Al Ghail near Al Manama in Ajman while Al Adhan received light showers.

The rain was due to the towering clouds that formed over the eastern parts of the country.

Forecasters expect towering clouds to form again on Friday.

“It rained for around 30 minutes but just light to moderate over a limited area in the eastern parts of the country. It was passing rain, which we expect to happen again tomorrow. There could be rain in the same period, same area, by afternoon and evening on Friday,” a forecaster told Gulf News.

Watch: Hail beats down on Ras Al Khaimah

“Since the rain was just for a limited time and area, there is no significant effect on the temperature there.”

The rest of the country remained warm in general and hazy at times. The temperature ranged between 35C to 41C in coastal areas like Dubai and Abu Dhabi on Thursday afternoon.

Relative humidity will increase by night and early morning over some coastal and internal areas, fog/mist may form over the weekend.

The sea will be rough to very rough at times, especially westward in the Arabian Gulf and moderate in general in Oman Sea on Friday.
