Dubai: Forecasters are expecting more scattered rain to hit parts of the UAE over the next three days due to a low pressure coming from the east.
Heavy rain with thunder hit the interior parts of Abu Dhabi overnight and carried over on Sunday morning and afternoon.
Moderate rain was recorded over Al Rahba City, Al Ain-Abu Dhabi Road, Sweihan to Abu Dhabi Road, and Al Khatim at around 2pm on Sunday.
Heavy showers were recorded over Saih As Sidirah and Al Samha at 1am on Sunday while Sieh Shuaib received light rain at around the same time.
Parts of Dubai also received light rain over Al Maktoum airport at 6am and over Jebel Ali at 5am.
Forecasters from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) warned motorists to take extra caution when going outdoors as it is expecting more rains over the same areas by Sunday later afternoon or evening and over the next two days.
“The rain is caused by a low pressure coming from the east, over southern Iran and the northern area of the UAE, with huge quantity of relative humidity on the upper air and also low pressure near land, causing more clouds to develop any time,” the forecaster told Gulf News.
NCM is also seeding the rain clouds to boost the amount of rainfall.
Scattered light to moderate rain is expected over Abu Dhabi and the western region along the coast any time on Monday and Tuesday.
Relative humidity is also expected to increase by night and evening that may cause foggy conditions along the western part of the UAE.
The Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea are likely to be rough on Monday.
