Dubai: There’s plenty of things to look forward to during the long Eid weekend – but the weather won’t be one of them.

Weather forecasters have predicted temperatures to reach a staggering 48 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, accompanied with high humidity levels ranging from 75 to 95 per cent.

Westerly to northwesterly wind will bring about a light to moderate breeze at various times of the day, at a rate of 18 to 28km/h, although it is expected to peak up to 45km/h in the coastal areas.

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said that during the next three days, temperatures will range an average of 29 degrees Celsius to 45 degrees Celsius over the coast and the islands.

The mountainous areas will not fare any better, with temperatures ranging from 26 degrees Celsius to 36 degrees Celsius.

The NCMS also pointed out that the weather on Tuesday and Wednesday will be warm to extremely hot, with a probability of some clouds forming over the eastern and the southern areas by the afternoon, which may lead to a chance of rain.

However, relative humidity will increase contributing to the discomfort many will feel due to the increasingly humid conditions. Western coastal and internal areas may experience fog and mist formation early Wednesday morning.

The NCMS also added that the weather from Thursday to Saturday will continue to remain in the late 40s, with light winds picking up in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.

In the long weekend, humidity is expected to rise at night over some coastal and inner areas, which will last from the night and into the early hours of the morning.
