Al Ain: Dusty, cloudy and hazy conditions are likely to continue until Saturday as forecasters urged motorists to be cautious due to low visibility and chances of light scattered rain.

The clouds, though scattered in some areas, are expected to recede gradually from Saturday, leaving behind dusty and hazy conditions, according to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS).

“The unstable weather, though not giving expected rainfall, will continue to affect the country,” said a forecaster. The amount of cloud will increase today (Friday) at time in different areas, giving light to moderate rain. Forecasters said the weather system has moved over to Iran leaving behind the dust and scattered clouds.

The weather will be cloudy to partly cloudy, becoming hazy at time, tomorrow (Saturday). Wind will be fresh to strong that may kick up dust and sand in open land areas. Light rain is however also expected in some northern and eastern areas. Sea will remain rough in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

The main feature of this time of the year, the first transition period between winter and summer, is the successive and quick changes in the weather, said the NCMS.

The country has been affected by fresh to strong south to south-easterly winds for last several days.

The hot winds have also raised temperature up to 39 degree Celsius in inland desert areas. The maximum temperature expected in the internal areas are in the range of 32 to 38 degree Celsius. The minimum will be around 14 to 21 degree Celsius.

The conditions would be slightly cooler in the coastal areas with maximum temperature around 26 to 33 degree Celsius and minimum hovering around 15 to 22 degree Celsius.

People planning a sea trip or camping in the desert during the weekend have been advised to postpone their programme as it could be risky. People with breathing problems have also been asked to cut down their activities in open until the conditions improve.
