Dubai: Brace yourselves for a dust storm, as officials expect visibility to reduce to 400 metres over the next two days.
The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) in Abu Dhabi forecasts that strong winds accompanied with dust will lower visibility to less than half a kilometre in some areas across the UAE.
According to the NCMS, the winds originate from Iran, which are then followed by further gusts of wind from Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
Weather forecasters have also predicted a chance of rain in the coming three days in the eastern and southern areas of the region, with “towering clouds.”
How hot is it getting?
“It will be hot weather in general, and hazy to partly cloudy at times over some eastern and southern areas. Some towering clouds may be associated with some rainfall,” said the NCMS on Wednesday.
“[Expect] relative humidity increase over the western areas, with a chance of mist formation.” As we enter the peak of summer, the NCMS explained that the average level of humidity for August is between 63 and 80 per cent – with the highest expected at 90 per cent in coastal areas.
The lowest level of humidity this month is expected to range from 20 to 32 per cent.
