Dubai: The unusual appearance of summer cloud cover over the UAE on Tuesday was accompanied by slightly cooler average seasonal temperatures.

And partly cloudy conditions are expected to remain over the next couple of days, weather forecasters in Abu Dhabi said.

The dip in temperatures should prevail over the weekend as fresh winds mix with increased humidity in coastal areas.

Expected temperatures over the next several days are expected to hover between 38-39 degrees Celsius, below the seasonal maximum average of 40C across the UAE and possibly into early next week.

According to a statement from the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), coastal temperatures are expected to reach as high as 39C early Wednesday but could climb as high as 44C in certain inland pockets.

The forecast for the next couple of days will see increased northwesterly winds between 25-35 km/h with gusts of up to 50km/h on the coast and between 20-32 km/h inland.

Wind in some areas will hamper visibility.

The NCMS said it is forecasting for Wednesday “partly cloudy and hazy weather over some areas. Moderate to fresh winds in general, causing blowing dust/sand, and this may reduce the horizontal visibility at times, especially over exposed areas. The relative humidity will increase by night and early morning over some coastal and internal areas. The relative humidity will increase by night and early morning over some coastal and internal areas.”

The centre said higher winds will also make seas along the UAE coast rougher than usual.

“Seas will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate to rough at times in the Oman Sea.”
