Abu Dhabi: A website claiming to be able to provide UAE visas for Indians has been conning people out of money for alleged service charges, the Indian Embassy warned on Thursday.

The website (https://india-visa.co/index.php) displays a header that reads “Online Indian Visa Application Form” and claims to have expertise in Indian tourist, business and long-term entry visas, the Embassy said in a press release.

Details on the site instruct customers to pay a service fee of $90 (Dh329.14) or the equivalent in Euros or Indian Rupees to get the visa process started. The website only charges service fees and applicants are told to pay the remaining visa fee when applying at the official centre.

The embassy has been informed that applicants have turned up at BLS International offices — the outsourced centre for Indian passport and visa services — after filling up the online visa application and paying the service fee.

The embassy warned that the website was designed to seem similar to the Online Visa Application website of the Government of India and is deceiving people.

The genuine website for online visa applications is http://www.indianvisaonline.gov.in

Applicants are advised not to make any online payments for any visa service.
