Dubai: It's another day of traffic misery for hundreds of cummuters in Dubai on Tuesday, as they found themselves stuck in heavy traffic jams stretching more than ten kilometres on major thoroughfares during the morning rush hour.

Very long tailbacks spanning approximately four kilometers were experienced by Dubai-bound motorists on the Dubai-Sharjah road just before 9am, as well as in Al Qusais, Karama, Deira, International City, Downtown Dubai and Shaikh Zayed Road.
Commuters travelling from Sharjah to Dubai via the Emirates Road were also stuck in slow-moving traffic stretching over 15 kilometres.The delays were partly due to a number of road closures on major highways.
The Dubai Police has called on the public to slow down and take extra care when driving in or around school zones.

“To respect the rules is a sign of your love and your loyalty to your country,” Dubai Police said on Twitter
While traffic jams are experienced on a daily basis by Dubai commuters, studies have shown that congestions in the emirate aren’t the worst in the world.
According to traffic information provider Inrix, a typical driver in Dubai spends, on average, 29 hours stuck in rush-hour traffic in one year. That’s lower than what other motorists spend in queues in many cities around the world.
The city with the world’s worst traffic jams is Los Angeles, where each driver spends an average of 102 hours in rush-hour traffic in 12 months.
