Dubai: Traffic in Dubai was brought to a standstill on Tuesday after an accident happened on Ras Al Khor Road.

Although more details of the accident are yet to be confirmed, Dubai Police warned motorists in the area to proceed with caution and to use alternative roads if possible.

The accident happened at around 7am opposite the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary, which left a tailback of traffic past the industrial area, along Al Awir Road and up until Dragon Mart. After two hours of the accident, traffic extended towards Dubai Mall.

Multiple accidents in Umm Suqeim added further traffic woes to motorists.

Earlier in the day, at around 6.30am, another large accident happened on Shaikh Zayed Road near Jebel Ali, causing significant traffic congestion on the road to Abu Dhabi.

Two traffic accidents also affected traffic for commuters on Tuesday morning, delaying the journey for drivers heading from the Deira Clocktower and near Saint Mary's Church.

Heavy traffic was reported on the Dubai-Al Ain Road towards Nad Al Sheba, Beirut Street, Tripoli Street, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road from Sharjah’s National Paints intersection to Mirdif City Centre, and Al Ittihad Road.

In Abu Dhabi, motorists were delayed on Khaleej Al Arabi Street due to an accident that took place at around 8am.
