Sharjah: Some major areas in Sharjah will come under paid parking on weekends from March 30, 2018, said Ali Bugasen, Director of Public Parking Department, Sharjah Municipality.

The paid parking signboards have been replaced in the major areas, including parts of Al Majaz, the Birds Market area and Al Shuwahain.

The department has decided to end free parking in these areas on weekends and public holidays, following a study, he explained.

The department received complaints that some residents are taking advantage of the free parking and park their vehicles for a long time in these zones.
