Dubai: More than 140 traffic patrols will ensure smooth traffic on National day, Dubai Traffic Police said.

Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of Dubai Traffic Police, said the department has studied multiple traffic scenarios and created solutions for them to ensure there is no traffic congestion during the celebrations.

Of the total 148 traffic patrols, 47 will be traffic patrol cars, 20 traffic police men, and 35 foot patrols will be patrolling the Bur Dubai area, which includes the 2nd of December street, Jumeirah road, Al Sufouh road and the Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) area .

Another 27 traffic patrols, 19 traffic police officers will be patrolling the Deira area, which includes Al Muraqqabat area, Al Riqqa, Al Mamzar, Al Rashidiya, Al Khaleej road, Al Ittihad road, Amman street and Academic city.

The patrols will also ensure people do not commit traffic violations, Brigader Al Mazroui said, adding that many activities will be taking place across the city in commemoration of the 45th National Day hence the importance of ensuring the smoothness of traffic.

“Mobile speed cameras will be placed on outer roads, as motorists tend to speed there,” he said.

“We urge people to drive carefully, listen to police orders and instructions and stay away from negative behaviours during the festivities,” he added.
