Dubai: The second edition of the Hamdan Bin Mohammad Award for Innovation in Project Management to be held in December will give university students from across the world an opportunity to showcase their skills in innovative project management.

The 2018 edition of the award will see a 29 per cent increase in prize money, with the overall prize purse going up to Dh2.6 million. There will also be more categories, including academic and research.

The academic category (innovative use of project management practices) offers prize money of $40,000 (Dh146,000). In the individual category, the Best Innovative Project Manager will win $50,000 while in the Creative Team category, the prize money has been doubled to $80,000.

Laila Faridoon, secretary-general of the Hamdan award, said the award is inviting undergraduate and postgraduate students to nominate their work.

“Research is the main pillar of innovation. By opening up to the academic sector, we are tapping into the potential of students who do a lot of research, but most of it goes unrecognised. Through this award, students will have a platform to showcase their research,” Faridoon said.
