Dubai: Emirates Airline has partnered with four government bodies to look into how to make travel through its dedicated airport terminal better.

On Wednesday, the carrier announced that it would work with customs, immigration authorities, the police and the airports authority to smooth traveler processes through Dubai Airport Terminal 3, its dedicated hub.

The initiative, simply titled ‘Together’ is focused on “innovative and practical solutions,” according to a statement from the airline.

These solutions will be based on what officials called the ‘6s’: Smart, speed, saving, service, safety, and security.

At the first two meetings, held at the Emirates headquarters, officials discussed short and medium-term recommendations.

These included a simplifying of passenger check-in processes, simplifying baggage drop-off and tracking, to using advanced technology throughout the passenger journey within the terminal.

The team, made up of senior representatives from each partner organisation will now conduct a series of workshops to agree priorities and a working plan.

This plan will be “geared towards incremental implementation in four-week sprints”.

“Last year, over 57 million passengers flew on Emirates, to Dubai or through Dubai, and that number continues to grow,” said Adel Al Redha, Emirates’ executive vice-president and chief operations officer.

“To us, the hub experience and sustaining our growth is very important. Making use of technology and bringing new initiatives to life is key to building our future and staying ahead of competition.”

Meanwhile, Major General Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, director-general of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Dubai, said: “Our team at the airport is often the first experience that a visitor would have with brand Dubai.”

“For us, the potential impact on customers, and speed of implementation and the warm welcome are our key considerations when we evaluate new solutions for implementation.”
