Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has announced that it will temporary extend its metro times on Wednesday.

Mohammad Yousuf Al Mudharreb, director of operations at the RTA’s Rail Agency, said: “The operation hours of the Dubai Metro Red Line on Wednesday, March 29 will be from 5.30am to 1am (early morning of the following day). On the same day, the Green Line will start operation at 5.50am and continue up to 1am (early morning of the following day).”

In a series of tweets, the RTA explained that it will run the Green and Red lines for an additional hour in order to meet the rush of visitors at this year’s GITEX Shopper.

However, it stressed that the Red and Green lines will only have its operations extended on the first and last days of the exhibition.

GITEX Shopper will run from March 29 to April 1, 2017, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, where visitors can easily arrive there by metro.

GITEX Shopper is the region’s biggest consumer electronics event with power retailers and world class brands.

According to organisers, tickets cost Dh25 per person per entry on all days of the show, and can be purchased online, at select UAE Exchange Outlets and at the venue during the exhibition.
