Dubai: Tech and gadget fans can rejoice. The Dubai Metro will run longer during the four days of Gitex Shopper next week.

To be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, this year’s Gitex Shopper — the first of two Gitex events this year — runs from Wednesday, March 29 until Saturday, April 1.

From Wednesday, March 29, trains on the metro’s Red Line — which has the Dubai World Trade Centre metro station — will run from 5:30am. Up to April 1st, they will run until 1:00am the following day.

Over the same time frame, the Green Line will start operations at 5:50am until 1:00am. The metro normally runs until midnight.

“With the growing footfall of Gitex Shopper every year, Dubai Metro is continuing to offer a convenient ride for visitors of the event, said Mohammad Al Mudharreb, RTA’s Director of Rail Operation.

“The extravaganza attracts thousands of visitors from the region and far afield,” the official added. “The metro ride will also save the time and resources of visitors, ridding them of the hassles associated with the use of vehicles.”

There are two editions of Gitex being held this year. The second Gitex will be held from October 8-12.
