Dubai: Motorists in the UAE have five more weeks to benefit from a 50 per cent discount in the payment of traffic fines, which is scheduled to end by March 1, 2018.

The decision to introduce the discount on fines was made under the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, in celebration of the UAE’s 46th National Day.

Dubai Police earlier announced that traffic fines registered between January 1, 2017 to December 2, 2017 are eligible for the discount.

Motorists in Abu Dhabi can pay off their traffic fines and for confiscated vehicles that were recorded between August 1, 2016 and December 1, 2017.

In the Northern Emirates, police announced the reduction will be applicable to fines issued before December 2, 2017.

Motorists can pay off their fines through police apps and smart channels.

Dubai Police have offered various ways to make payments, which can be done either through the traffic department, police and car registration centers, in addition to kiosks in all commercial centers.

Fine payments can also be made online, through UAE bank sites and Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) centres. The discount will be automatically set when the payment is made.
