Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has warned motorists about upcoming traffic delays due to the Dubai Air Show, located in the area of Al Maktoum International Airport.

In a series of tweets, the RTA cautioned drivers to use alternative routes from November 12 to 16, 7am to 6pm, due to the hundreds of visitors at this year’s Air Show.

To avoid aggravating the traffic congestion, motorists are advised to not park their vehicles around the vicinity on Emirates Road, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed (MBZ) Road and the Jebel Ali-Lehbab Road, to maintain safety throughout the event and to provide emergency vehicles with a safe route.

Motorists have been cautioned to use Shaikh Zayed Road and Al Yalayis Street to avoid delays expected to affect Emirates Road, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road, and the Jebel Ali-Lehbab Road exit near Al Maktoum International Airport.

Commuters can also avoid delays by using public transport modes and taking advantage of shuttle buses to and from the site, including from Ibn Battuta Metro Station to Al Maktoum International Airport.

Motorists on Sunday also faced heavy delays as they made their way to work due to a number of accidents and tailbacks on Dubai roads.

An accident was reported on MBZ Road opposite Global Village, in the direction towards Sharjah.  Another accident also happened on MBZ Road after the Ministry of Health Building towards Abu Dhabi, adding further congestion to the morning rush hour.

Traffic delays were also affected after accidents were reported on MBZ Road near Dubai Investments Park interchange, Abu-Dhabi bound, and another one on the Dubai-AlAin Road after the Academic City exit towards.

More accidents were also reported in Sharjah on Al Dhaid Road and Maleha Road towards Emirates Road.
