Dubai: Airlines across the UAE say it’s business as usual for flight operations from the UAE into Maldives where a state of emergency for 15 days has been declared in wake of political unrest.

The Maldives declaration for 15 days on Monday following a court order to release prisoners but is not expected to restrict ‘services and businesses,” said the office of that country’s President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom in a statement.

An Emirates spokesperson told Gulf News on Tuesday: “Flights are running as per normal. No impact on operations.”

Etihad did not respond to media requests from Gulf News.

A flydubai spokesperson said the low-cost carrier is “aware of the statement issued by the Maldives government and we are currently monitoring the situation”.

An Air Arabia spokesperson noted that the airline does not have any flights to Maldives.
