Sharjah: Al Orouba-Al Sharq Street will be closed for 21 days from 12 midnight to 5am, as of today (Wednesday) for the regular maintenance of the Al Khaleej Al Arabi Bridge in Sharjah.

Only one lane on the street will be closed for commuters travelling from Al Orouba Street towards Ajman. The roundabouts and service roads will not be affected by maintenance work on Al Khaleej Al Arabi bridge.

The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) said that the move aims to enhance traffic flow and boost the efficiency of road networks in the emirate.

The regular and emergency maintenance works will be carried out at night only to avoid any disruption of traffic flow.

The SRTA alerted motorists to use alternatives routes during the maintenance hours. It said that the authority’s strategy mainly focuses on providing maximum traffic safety standards and boosting the efficiency of road and bridge networks through the ongoing development and maintenance.

The authority urged road users to abide by traffic rules and signboards, and welcomes all queries and complaints at the call centre, toll- free number 600525252, round the clock.

All road and transport projects are designed to accommodate current and future needs of urban expansion in the region and enhance traffic flow.

The authority is dedicated to improving the quality of roads to cope with the plans under way for urban development as well as Sharjah’s growing population and the movement of transport.
