Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police are announcing the location of mobile radars on roads in the emirate across its social media platforms.

The new initiative comes as an attempt to raise traffic awareness among motorists and make the roads safer by curbing speeding.

Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Daheri, general manager of Central Operations of Abu Dhabi Police, said “that a plan is being developed to announce the locations and timings of the mobile radars during daytime, evening and at night, based on certain indicators, such as accidents, traffic violations and offences, in an attempt to curb excessive speed and all causes of traffic accidents, resulting in fatalities, economic losses and negative social consequences”.

Al Daheri added that the main objective of launching this initiative is to educate motorists and encourage them to abide by traffic laws and regulations, as well as improve traffic safety and not just issue more traffic fines to motorists. Such initiatives and efforts aim for the safety and security of motorists, drivers and road users.

Al Daheri urged motorists to abide by the speed limit for their own safety and the safety of other road users.

Locations of mobile radars in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region are posted on Abu Dhabi Police’s social media networks ‘adpolicehq’ and are updated regularly.
