Abu Dhabi: Parking violations have been nearly eliminated in the areas of Abu Dhabi where Mawaqif parking regulations apply, with 98 per cent of residents complying with the law, the Department of Transport announced in a statement released on Sunday.
The department manages Mawaqif parking services through its Integrated Transport Centre, which has set up 128,832 surface parking bays in the emirate since 2009. These include 114,234 spaces across 77 sectors in Abu Dhabi, and 14,598 bays across 16 sectors in Al Ain. In addition, eight multi-storey parking structures have also been built to provide another 4,510 parking spaces.
There are also 182 pink-coloured women-only parking bays in the capital currently, along with 1,085 motorbike and bicycle parking bays in 19 sectors.
