Sharjah: At least 12 people were injured and taken to hospital after a three-vehicle collision on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road on Sunday morning.

The incident took place in front of Al Thiqa Club at around 4.40am when a 40-year-old Pakistani driver, identified as F.S., rammed into a parked vehicle and then hit a number of workers who were getting into a bus parked on the side of the road.

While police were working to clear the road, another vehicle, driven by a 28-year-old Yemeni man, collided with one of the damaged vehicles.

At least 12 workers were treated on the spot for minor and moderate injuries and some were later taken to hospital. The Pakistan and the Yemeni drivers were taken to hospital in critical condition.

Initial investigations showed that the accidents took place as a result of speeding and lack of attention on the road. Al Gharb police station is investigating the incident.
