During the same period, the Tourism Police provided solutions to 29 complaints from tourists, conducted 108 tourism awareness campaigns, and coordinated with 90 embassies and various authorities.

Colonel Dr Rashid Mohammad Borshid, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department, said that the CID endeavours to enhance public awareness of the task force’s duties and tasks with the aim of making Abu Dhabi the most popular tourist destination locally and internationally.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Muzeed Fahd Al Otaibi, Chief of the Tourism Police Section, said that the section has recently established three new offices in Galleria Mall, Yas Mall and Mushrif Central Park, bringing the total number of offices up to nine. Two of the offices are located on the Corniche Beach, one on Al Bateen Ladies’ beach, one in Yas Water World, one at the Yas police station and one at Zayed Port to serve cruise tourists.

He added that the Tourism Police patrols are deployed at any event or activity held in Abu Dhabi, to foster societal interaction with the public in general and especially with tourists. Tourism Police officers also receive complaints and proposals, with a view to enhancing public protection at the most popular tourist attractions and landmarks.

“The [Tourism Police] website highlights the efforts made by the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters to ensure the spread of peace and security in society as well as its strategy to decrease crime rates and implement justice while ensuring the public’s confidence in the police,” Al Otaibi said.

He also indicated that the Tourism Police Section has well-trained and qualified staff members who have enrolled in specialised training courses in tourism security, to deal professionally with tourists. They are familiar with foreign languages such as English, French, Chinese, Filipino, Urdu, and Persian, among others, so that they can easily communicate with tourists and answer their inquiries to make their stay in the emirate of Abu Dhabi comfortable.
