Dubai: Visitors to Dubai Miracle Garden now have a world record-setting structure to look forward to — an 18-meter floral Mickey Mouse unveiled on Sunday.

Speaking to Gulf News soon after the Guinness World Record awarded the certificate to them, Engineer Abdul Nasser Rahhal, the brain behind the Dubai Miracle Garden, outlined what it took to build the latest attraction in one of the city's most popular tourist destinations.

“We used almost 10 tonnes of steel and 100,000 plants," he said.

"We employed over 100 workers, engineers and designers with 50 tonnes of concrete foundation." he said.

Rahhal explained that the new attraction with the Dubai Miracle Garden is part of the upcoming 90-year anniversary of Mickey Mouse, and it is just the first floral sculpture as part of our agreement with Walt Disney company.

They promised more Walt Disney-themed structures and projects in the future.

100,000 plants

The sculpture features almost 100,000 plants and flowers (including White Petunia, Red Petunia, White Geranium, Yellow Viola, Zinnia Marigold and Green Alternanthera), weighs almost 35 tons, and is supported by a 7-ton steel structure with a foundation of 50 tons of reinforced concrete.

People can view this massive sculpture for the coming few weeks till the weather gets warmer and the garden closes to the public.
