Dubai: More than 1.35 million transactions were handled by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) during the Eid Al Adha holidays between September 11 and 15, an official said on Saturday.

Dubai airports also witnessed busy days during Eid Al Adha, with more than 641,253 passengers travelling to and from Dubai.

Major General Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, director-general of the General Directorate of Residency and foreigners’ Affairs in Dubai, said that the huge number of transactions conducted at the GDRFA’s external Happiness Centres reflects the great role played by its employees to serve all customers and their professionalism in offering services in line with the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The third day of the Eid holidays proved the busiest with 188,586 transactions, followed by the fourth day with 176,178 transactions. Day one saw 153,608 transactions processed and day two witnessed handling of 139,932 transactions. The fifth day saw the lowest number of users with 54,574 transactions.

Maj Gen Al Merri pointed out that the Customer Satisfaction Department at Dubai International Airport helped facilitate travel procedures for a lot of families.

Many citizens also managed to renew their passports in a very short time through this department and that facilitated their travel procedures and saved them time and effort.
