DUBAI: Samba Carioca from Brazil, Iced Mate Cocido from Argentina and premium Maple Syrup from Canada could be some of the surprise elements at the 19th Global Village starting today as an all-new Americas pavilion readies for a grand debut.

“One of the new pavilions this year is Americas that will represent countries from both continents and there will be stalls from Brazil, Argentina amongst other Latin American nations,” Ahmed Hussain Bin Essa, the Global Village Chief Operating Officer told XPRESS ahead of its opening.

Thirty other pavilions from more than 70 countries including Cambodia and Iraq - both returning after a brief hiatus - complete the overall line-up of 25 restaurants, 150 kiosks, 3500 plus outlets and over 17,000 parking spots at the latest avatar of Global Village - on for 157 days till April 11,2015.

Friendly mascot GLOBO, dancing fountain and Doner Kebabs from Germany and grills from American diners Gun Smoke Steaks and Burgers will be the new features, besides free Wi-Fi for all from Du and a guaranteed ‘scratch and win’ prize on every ticket.

“We have kept families particularly in mind with many new attractions as the Global Village gets bigger and better this season,” said Ahmad Al Marri, Director of Operations of Global Village. An unique sand-art exhibition by a Dubai-based American company at the Al Remal Pit, an ‘Animals Land’ replete with real animal sounds and motions and a special lights corner called Illumination World are the three additions to the host of family attractions that also include a Prehistoric Oceanarium, a 3D Haunted House and a Heritage Village. The carnival gets wilder with other first-time shows like Wall Kings, Vertical Drummers, Comedy Car Show, FMX show, Lords of Lightening and Mirror Man while the popular Fantasy Island funfair concept returns in an improved and larger format.
