Dubai: Three people have died and ten have suffered injuries in a number of accidents that have taken place in Dubai over the past few days.
Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of Dubai Traffic Police, said the first accident took place at around 8am on Tuesday at Al Manara intersection when a vehicle crashed into a bicycle. The cyclist sustained severe injuries and was taken to hospital.
Also on Tuesday, a man sustained severe injuries after being run over in Al Wasl.
Col Al Mazroui said that one person died due to his injuries and two were seriously injured on Wednesday, when a four-by-four vehicle swerved and hit the barrier on Dubai-Al Ain road in the direction of Al Ain.
The accident took place at around 4.30pm, and the two people who were injured were airlifted to hospital.
He said that around the same time, in the opposite direction on the same road, another vehicle swerved and hit a tree. The driver sustained minor injuries.
Also on Wednesday, at 8.45pm a man sustained severe injuries when he was run over by a four-by-four vehicle on Bani Yas road while crossing from the designated area.
Five cars crashed on Mohammad Bin Zayed Road in the Abu Dhabi direction at 11pm on Wednesday, causing one death and four serious injuries.
