Dubai: Dubai International Academy on Tuesday hosted two-time world boxing champion Badou Jack and undefeated World kickboxing champion Amer Abdallah, who addressed over 800 enthusiastic students and staff.

Jack is Mayweather Promotions’ longest reigning champion and has won both the WBC Super Middleweight and WBA Light Heavyweight championships. Abdallah is an Intercontinental and United States champion in kickboxing.

In line with the Dubai 30X30 Fitness Challenge recently launched by Shaikh Hamdan, Crown Prince of Dubai, the athletes spoke to the students about the value of sport, and the importance of ‘moral education’ while emphasising the importance of self- motivation, and respect towards others and themselves. The objective of the talk was to inspire and encourage students and staff to adopt more active and healthier lifestyles.

When asked about the toughest opponent he has had to face in his lifetime, Jack said, “It undoubtedly has to be myself, as often times the only person standing in your way is yourself. Self-motivation is the most critical factor in achieving success.”

Abdallah reassured the students of their own abilities by saying, “It is about believing that every one of you has something special. Your job is to find that and implement it in your life.” Dubai International Academy is an IB Continuum school of Innoventures Education. All schools of Innoventures Education encourage students to take up sports and fitness activities along with academics.
