Dubai: Residents and visitors in Dubai have the chance to become part of a Guinness World Record attempt for the longest line of photographs.

Till tomorrow (August 9), customers visiting Carrefour in Mall of the Emirates or Festival City can take a picture with a loved one in one of photo booths set up in the area.

This is part of Great Moments campaign that began on July 30.

Organised by Procter & Gamble (P&G) in partnership with Carrefour, the campaign aims to contribute to the UAE Happiness Index by helping consumers show their appreciation to those who make them the happiest.

The photographs shared by shoppers will be used to form the world’s longest line of photographs, which will be put on display at the end of the campaign.

Guinness World Records representatives will be invited to Dubai Festival City on August 9 to verify the record.

Khalid Adawi, director, Procter & Gamble in the Arabian Peninsula, told Gulf News that “we want as many people as possible to join in and share who they enjoy their greatest moments with. It could be their mom, best friend, or brother. We want thousands of people to take part, our goal is reach over 10,000 people”.

Adawi pointed out that in a fast paced city like Dubai, where people are constantly moving and working really hard, it can sometimes be difficult to take a break and make memories.

“This is a moment for people to step back, switch off from daily pressures, and think about their loved ones. I would love it if this campaign encourages people to do something fun, and something memorable with their loved ones this summer. Our well-being is based on the quality time we spend with those we love the most,” he added.

Residents react

Gulf News also talked to residents about who they like to share their greatest moments with, and why it’s important to remind people to put an effort to be happy.

Nela Lukic, Serbia

“I would include my girlfriends in the campaign photo because they have been a part of a myriad of my great moments and we share memories that we laugh about all the time. There is no one person that I would share these moments with, as a team we are so much stronger and bring out the best in each other — this one’s for Sasha, Toosha, Lucija and Nouf! They make every moment we spend together great. The happiest moment in my life this year include me traveling for my best friend’s 30 birthday, getting married, and completing the first year of my MBA. I feel many people tend to really get hung up on material things and what other people think of them. They often forget the fact that happiness and being happy is a very intrinsic feeling that is generally brought about by the way we choose to live life, and the people that we surround ourselves with, rather than how we present ourselves to outsiders. It’s always important to have a campaign like this to remind us of these factors.”

Natasha Rose, UK

“I would like include my mum in the photo, as she has always been there for me and supported me no matter what. If I need her guidance or opinion she always makes time for me, even if she has a busy work schedule. My mum is my role model and her strength and positivity in all life situations inspires me. The happiest moments in my life this year include -getting engaged to my fiancé, starting a dream job in an exciting new role in Dubai, and seeing my sister after two years, and catching up. It is really important to remind people to be happy, because all of our lives are very busy and it is important to appreciate and enjoy what is important in life. I believe that a happy mind leads to a happy life.”

Nilufar Abdugafarova, Uzbekistan

“I would like to take the photo with my son, as I believe he is the greatest miracle of my life, he is the little human who transformed me and taught me to be positive and stay happy, regardless of situations around us. I have had many happy and sad moments this year but two were remarkable moments were my son’s birthday, in which I was able to understand what is actually important to me in life. The second happiest moment for me was when I found out that I had won a scholarship for a full year of education. It was wonderful because I have been delaying education for the past three years due to financial reasons. I still have an amazing feeling every time I recall the moment I was told that I was one of 10 winners. I believe we need to remind others and ourselves every single day to stay happy and positive and such campaigns are great for the enhancement of this message. I believe positivity and happiness are the two tools driving our lives. To me, happiness is enjoying every single moment that you receive as a gift. I have been through an extremely tough year and only positivity and happiness has kept me moving.”
