Police across the UAE are geared to make Eid holidays safe and secure for everyone.

Patrols will be intensified in areas and locations known to be frequented by people, such as malls and tourist attractions, across the emirates.

Major General Omair Mohammad Al Muhairi, Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, said patrols will be deployed around Eid prayer lawns, shopping malls and markets across the emirate.

Major General Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant to the Dubai Police Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs, said that there will be a total of 619 security patrols during Eid spread out across Dubai.

Those leaving the country on vacation, he urged, should register their villas with the Dubai Police Home Security to avoid any thefts.

In Sharjah, Colonel Shawaf Mohammad Abdul Rahman, Director-General of Sharjah Police’s Traffic and Patrols Department, said all efforts are being made to ensure smooth traffic flow.

More surveillance cameras have been installed on highways, intersections, roundabouts, shopping areas and crowded areas in all parts of Sharjah City.

Entry and exit to and from mosque parking lots during prayer times will also be regulated, while CID officers will maintain presence around banks, exchanges and ATMs to prevent crime, he said.

In Ajman, Colonel Ali Saeed Al Matroushi, Director-General of Ajman Police Operations, warned that homes could be targeted by burglars during the Eid holidays, with many people travelling or being away from their homes, he advised residents to put security measures in place.

“Police security patrols will be deployed at residential, commercial and industrial areas in addition to the Eid Musallah and other areas in the emirate, along with Ajman Corniche and public parks.”

Twenty eight traffic patrols will be deployed on the Ajman roads to regulate traffic, he said.

Ras Al Khaimah Police are stepping up patrols and surveillance on key roads to reduce accidents and ensure smooth traffic flow during Eid and cracking down on the sale of firecrackers in the emirate to ensure safety, said Major-General Ali Abdullah Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ras Al Khaimah Police. More than 30 traffic patrols will be deployed on the Ras Al Khaimah roads.

Brigadier Mohammad Ahmad Bin Ganem Al Kaabi, Commander-in-Chief of Fujairah Police, appealed to all motorists and those visiting the emirate during the Eid holiday to be careful while in mountainous areas, valleys, and also if out at sea. For emergency calls, inquiries or reports, call 999.

Police advice for safe holidays:

— Keep an eye on children and raise their awareness about the dangers of fireworks.

— Do not leave children unattended in cars while shopping or conducting social visits, due to risk of suffocation because of the heat.

— If travelling during Eid, do not leave any valuables at home, secure your belongings in safes or banks; and notify the building watchman of your absence to ensure safety of your property.

— Beachgoers must take precautions while swimming, stay away from deep areas, and adhere to the designated swimming areas. Do not leave valuables unattended on the beach,

— If taking a trip around the UAE, check the weather conditions to prepare accordingly.

All medical fitness service centres will be closed during the Eid Al-Fitr holidays from 29th day of Ramadan until 3rd Shawwal.

Work will resume with official timings on Monday, 4th Shawwal.
