Abu Dhabi: For a parent, a baby born on festive occasions or on auspicious days brings untold joy.

The Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women and Children in Abu Dhabi welcomed a total of 6 newborns (5 boys and 1 girl) on Arafat Day, and another 4 newborns (2 boys and 2 girls) in the first few hours of Eid Al Adha.

 Born at 4:15am on the first day of Eid Al Adha

The first baby was born at 4:15am on the first day of Eid Al Adha and is the fourth child for her family. “The baby is in good health and we have named her Mathayel,” her overjoyed father, Omar Bakheet Tamatem Al Menhali, said. “We are extremely happy to have her join us in the first hours of Eid Al Adha. From here, we would like to congratulate UAE leaders, government and the people of UAE on this very special day. Mathayel, has a brother and two sisters, who are overwhelmed with her birth today.”

A pair of twins were also born at the hospital at 11:55 pm on Arafat Day, which falls before the first day of Eid Al Adha. The twins (two boys) mark the first children for their family.

'A surprise for us'

“The birth of our twins on this blessed night was a surprise for us, and now the memorable occasion is tripled for us. We named them Mohamoud and Ahmad. We are very thankful for this blessing,” said Abdul Qader Darwish, the father of the twins.

Dr Rihan Saafan, Consultant, Obstetrics and Gynecology, at Danat Al Emarat Hospital, who delivered the twins, said: “Multiple pregnancies are associated with higher possibility of early delivery. The twins were due in the third week of October but decided to join the family on this special occasion of all and tripled the joy of their parents and ours. Both babies and mother are in good health.”

'We are happy to welcome the nine newborns'

Vino Nallaya, CEO of Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women and Children, said: “We are happy to welcome the nine newborns at Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women and Children on Arafat Day and the first few hours of Eid Al Adha. All 10 babies and mothers are doing well and are in good health.”

For Emirati couple Basma Abbas Al Khafaji and Luai Khalid Al Saadi, welcoming their beautiful baby girl, Al Maha Luai Al Saadi, on the special occasion of Eid Al Adha was a beautiful moment. Al Maha was born at Burjeel Hospital, Abu Dhabi, at 12:01am.

“We are elated that God has blessed us with a healthy baby girl and this has by far been the best Eid gift for us”, said the beaming father, Luai Khalid Al Saadi.
