Ahiree Bhowmik, who will be joining the Second Faculty of Medicine in Charles University, Prague: “I always prefer studying in a classroom set-up because in a classroom the student and teacher are physically present near each other and can interact with one another. It is important for me to see how the teacher reacts to a query that I may be having. Secondly, studying in a classroom means you are studying with several others with whom you can share your questions, doubts, etc.”

Bala Kumar, father of Aryaan Kumar, a class X student in an American curriculum school in Dubai: “Online tutoring offers a lot of flexibility. This is all the more important because my son plays golf at the under-18 level in the UAE. So, flexibility in terms of tuition timings is important. Given the option, we would have even gone for home schooling for Aryaan.”

Arundhati Bandyopadhyay, a CBSE Grade XI student in Sharjah: “I have enrolled myself for online tutorials from Akash Institute for my All-India medical entrance. Before this, I used to take online tuitions for my Grade X exams as well. I find this online format quite helpful because in a one-on-one scenario, I can stay focused on the topic being taught and even if I happen to miss a class, I can always access a pre-recorded session to catch up — all from the comfort of my home.”

Keith Miller, father of James Miller, a student of grade X at a British curriculum school in Dubai: “In e-tutoring, the scope for one-on-one interaction is much higher. That is why we preferred this mode. We had to bring my son up to speed in subjects like physics, chemistry, biology and maths and I must say we are happy with the progress so far.”

Vimal Venu Gopal, who will be joining the Vellore Institute of Technology in Chennai for a B-Tech in Electronics and Telecommunications: “I was looking for some meaningful engagement after my Grade XII exam and until the start of my under-grad classes. The C-Programming course that I am doing online with Udemy is turning out to be quite helpful. I can access my online class from a variety of devices like my mobile, laptop or tablet. Moreover, all the notes are available in PDF format and I can access them any time I want.”
