Sharjah: A new initiative to establish a foundation for creating a generation of future leaders and innovators has been announced by Shaikha Jawaher Bint Mohammad Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

Shaikha Jawaher is the chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.

The foundation is a first-of-its-kind activity at the local and regional level that seeks to build and develop generations over 25 years through the integration and partnership of four Sharjah-based government entities — the Sharjah Children Centres, Youth Centres, Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, and Sharjah Tatweer Forum.

The departments will collaborate to develop the talents of children in Sharjah and the UAE, building their capabilities through an array of programmes.

“What we have achieved in the UAE and what we look forward to accomplishing in the future requires us to build, train and qualify young leaders who are responsible and ambitious to maintain the great acquisitions and successes achieved by their forefathers. They will make the UAE proud through their innovations and accomplishments,” said Shaikha Jawaher.

She added that “establishing the ‘Rubu’ Qarn Foundation’ for creating leaders and innovators comes in line with the national strategy of the UAE and the emirate of Sharjah, concerning children and adolescents through building Emirati generations full of talent and knowledge, which qualify them to be creative leaders and inspiring innovators who devote their capabilities to serving their community and representing their country effectively at local and international forums”.

The four departments and entities that will operate under the new foundation target children and adolescents, starting with six year olds up until the age of 25 — hence the phrase ‘quarter of a century’.

The initiative will be responsible for identifying a strategic unified plan for the four entities, with the aim of stimulating their efforts, ascertaining what benefits them, their country and the international community.

The foundation is being regarded as particularly significant because it does not focus on one specific area but instead develops a wide range of skills and capabilities that contribute to building knowledge-based generations who enjoy creating, shaping and leading the future.
